In this blog, we want to let everyone in on some inside information about the windows and siding industry + our lives. We look forward to educating you and sharing about our success, our lives, and how God has blessed us, our company and continues to bless us as we grow.
Did you know windows do not cause condensation?
Currently as I am writing this, it is -8 degrees Fahrenheit with the wind chill! A high-end, good-quality vinyl window, like we sell, can help with condensation but at the end of the day, it’s going to be caused by the humidity in the home.
How can our windows help but not prevent?
A lot of people get new windows, and in the summer they sometimes can see dew on the exterior of the windows, which again is not an issue and another topic we will cover in a future article. They also see condensation, but what people do not realize is it is not the window causing this if they have a good window!
Condensation defined is:
“Condensation is the process of water vapor turning into liquid water droplets when it comes into contact with a cold surface. It can occur indoors or outdoors.”
So what do we do? Everything we can to ensure the interior piece of glass is as warm as possible. On average, it can make your interior glass about 17 degrees warmer than the industry standard on a cold winter day!
How? Good question!
We provide a glass spacing of 7/8th of an inch, along with our glass thickness itself being a double pane, AND double strength glass, with an option of triple pane AND triple strength glass! Lastly, we use a super spacer spacing system. Most windows use a metal spacing system in between the glass to separate the window panes. Yes, a metal spacing system that conducts the cold air into the inside of the glass which worsens your condensation issue. Our insulated window we use, uses a no metal, durable Super Spacer, system to keep your inside glass warmer! And in return, causes less condensation in the wintertime. Our Low-E and argon gas in between the glass has a 96.4% full of argon gas, an insulator in between the glass, much higher than industry standard.
We can give you a free energy inspection to see your condensation and help determine a possible solution. If you are like me, I like more moisture in the air in my house to prevent that dry feeling; so, consider giving us a call to replace your windows to help your condensation problem!
Finally and most importantly is a chart to help you navigate this. Take the warm moisture out of the air inside your home, and condensation will be almost completely gone. Recommended humidity levels according to temperature. You can get a humidistat on Amazon; this is what I have for my house! (linked here)
